Selling Your Home Why you need a real estate agent
Selling a home takes time, skill and knowledge. Not that you are without the required expertise but taking into consideration that an agent might have a little more experience, know a few more people, have been into a few more houses (to compare apples with apples) you might find that an agent could be the partner you can rely on. Why?
- An agent can put a realistic price tag on your property as they have inside information about the value of other properties in the area. Despite the fact that you already have a price in mind, it remains important to keep in consideration market value
- A good agent will have marketing power and know how to aggressively market your property. This includes tried and trusted media where the property (and others) are advertised.
- A reputable agent have contacts you might not have which may lead to a quicker sale. This includes buyers who already placed their trust in the agent and would prefer to be guided by that person only.
- A skilled agent will be able to negotiate the best deal for your property with less at stake for yourself. One of the most important skills a real estate agent should have is STRONG negotiation ABILITY. It might be easier for an outsider who is not emotionally involved, to negotiate a good deal.
Before taking the decision not to go for the services of a real estate agent, think about the time and effort you want to spend, particularly if the process drags on.
